1. What is blocking queue? Explain its uses and how it works.

Blocking Queue is a data structure in Java that provides a thread-safe way to store and manage elements in a queue

It is called a “blocking” queue because certain operations on the queue can be blocked or wait until the queue is in a specific state. Blocking queues are particularly useful in concurrent programming scenarios where multiple threads are involved.

Characteristics:

Thread Safety:

  • Blocking queues are designed to be used in a multithreaded environment, ensuring that operations on the queue are thread-safe.
  • Multiple threads can concurrently insert and remove elements from the queue without causing data corruption or unexpected behaviour.

Blocking Operations:

  • Blocking queues provide blocking operations for inserting and removing elements.
  • If a thread tries to dequeue an element from an empty queue, it will be blocked until an element becomes available.
  • Similarly, if a thread tries to enqueue an element into a full queue, it will be blocked until there is space available.
